A private art collector buys a landmark on the Kempisch canal in Herentals. The silos in the building are high and too narrow to do anything useful with.
For this project we work in tandem with Architectenbureau Wouter Bastijns. It includes the demolition of the silos, creating a void in which 2 studio/exhibition spaces can be hung. The existing work floors next to the silos will be retained, and a new studio with northern lights will be built on the roof. The building is being renovated very gently with respect for the existing aspect. Materials are restored, new interventions are in line with the atmosphere of the building in terms of material use. is M. Swyzen-Bastines
