Welvaart

WZC Welvaart is located in a unique location in the green northern edge of Antwerp. The existing buildings no longer meet current expectations. In a competition in 2014, BBSC-Architects, together with Elsen Architecture, were selected in Temporary Association on the basis of the proposed design.

Our design aims to create an optimal indoor and outdoor experience for residents, coupled with well-considered manageability for staff. The first phase can be realized without interventions to the existing facility. The 2nd phase involves the demolition of the existing buildings and an expansion of the number of beds.

Because of the setting in nature, warm earth tones were chosen. The composite facade cladding especially developed for this project is reminiscent of Travertine, but with easy durability and a cost price lower than facing brick. A lot of attention has been paid to the view, sun in the rooms without disturbing side effects, flexibility from a room to occupancy and above all, as in every BBSC project, the experience for the user.
